New Delhi: Speaking about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that while the region is under control, infiltration attempts from Pakistan are persistent.

Despite the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC), militant infrastructure in Pakistan remains intact, aiding cross-border militancy. General Dwivedi revealed that 60% of militants killed in the past year were of Pakistani origin, signalling Islamabad’s continued involvement. Armed forces remain vigilant in countering these threats to ensure stability in the Union Territory, he said.

In the meantime, General Dwivedi addressed the situation in Manipur, acknowledging ongoing cyclic violence despite efforts to restore peace. Enhanced surveillance along the Myanmar border and fencing initiatives are in progress to address illegal inflows. He also commented on the India-China border, describing the situation as “sensitive but stable” with routine patrolling resumed in areas like Depsang and Demchok, supported by robust infrastructure development.
