Addressing the ongoing disengagement efforts with China, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is ‘sensitive but stable.’

This comes after years of heightened tensions following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. General Dwivedi reassured that patrolling and grazing activities in regions like Depsang and Demchok in eastern Ladakh have resumed normally.

He highlighted the army’s focus on strengthening border infrastructure and integrating advanced technologies into defence systems. Ground-level commanders have been empowered to resolve minor disputes to maintain peace in the region.

Meanwhile, General Dwivedi also addressed concerns regarding the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where infiltration attempts continue despite the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC). He pointed out that 60% of militants killed in the last year were Pakistani nationals. Additionally, on Manipur, he acknowledged the state’s cyclic violence and emphasised the army’s efforts to restore peace and secure the Myanmar border to curb illegal activities.
