New Delhi: Amid ongoing unrest in Manipur, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi confirmed that proactive government measures and coordinated security efforts have largely brought the situation under control.
He acknowledged, however, that incidents of violence continue cyclically. The army is focusing on enhanced surveillance and fencing along the Myanmar border to curb the influx of illegal arms and insurgents. These measures aim to stabilise the state, which has been deeply affected by ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
Meanwhile, the army chief discussed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where infiltration attempts persist despite the ceasefire along the LoC. He emphasised that militant infrastructure in Pakistan remains active. On the India-China border, he described the situation as “sensitive but stable,” with balanced deployment and routine activities resuming in eastern Ladakh.
