Cold wave continues in Kashmir; Gulmarg coldest at minus 8.5°C

Srinagar: As cold wave continues in Kashmir, famous tourist destination Gulmarg recorded the lowest temperature of minus 8.5°C, followed by Sonamarg at -7.4°C and Pahalgam at -4.2°C. Srinagar registered a minimum of 0.6°C, while Qazigund, a key gateway town, reported 1.6°C.

Kupwara and Kokernag also stayed in the freezing zone with 0.8°C and 1.2°C, respectively. Baramulla recorded -1.5°C, and Budgam and Kulgam both hovered around -0.9°C. Shopian hit -1.7°C, while Pulwama and Ganderbal shared 1.5°C. Some regions, like Bandipora and Anantnag, didn’t report their readings.

In Jammu, temperatures dipped to 7.5°C in Jammu city and reaching as low as -0.6°C in Banihal. Padder recorded an extreme -6.0°C, while Bhaderwah and Batote noted 0.8°C and 2.9°C, respectively.

Ladakh continues to battle extreme cold, with Drass remaining the coldest place in the region at a bone-freezing -18.2°C. Kargil recorded -10.3°C, while Leh reported -9.9°C.

With temperatures dropping, the region braces for more frost and potential snowfall in the coming days.
