Inspects civil and security arrangements at Bakhshi Stadium

Srinagar: In view of ensuing January 26 event, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, convened a meeting on Tuesday with officials from civil departments and armed forces to assess the final arrangements and facilities for the event.

During the meeting, the Div Com reviewed the facilities for the participants and emphasised on overwhelming participation in the event.

He also instructed for hassle-free entry of participants at the venue, and directed concerned departments to appoint nodal officers to facilitate them.

He called for the illumination of key government buildings and institutions to foster a festive atmosphere.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Director Floriculture, and heads of all divisional and district offices.

Later, the Div Com also visited Bakhshi Stadium to assess the arrangements for the seamless execution of the Republic Day celebrations.

During this visit, he inspected the availability of drinking water and electricity, installation of LED screens, sound systems, seating arrangements, sanitation, and toilet facilities.

On the occasion, he directed the Roads and Buildings department to install four LED screens at the stadium for live broadcast of the celebration proceedings.

He also urged the relevant authorities to ensure adequate heating arrangements for guests and enjoined the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to deploy mobile toilets at the venue.

During the visit, the Div Com was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic, ASP security and officials from various departments, including PHE, KPDCL, R&B, Information, MED, Traffic Police, YSS, AACL, Sports Council, and Hospitality & Protocol, and others.
