New Delhi: Voting for Delhi’s 70-member assembly is currently underway. Among the early voters were President Droupadi Murmu, GoI Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and S Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, AAP leader Manish Sisodia, BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj, and Congress’ Alka Lamba.
The 2025 Delhi assembly election will determine the Union Territory’s leadership for the next five years. The single-phase polling began at 7 a.m. across 13,033 polling stations.
The election, featuring a three-way contest between AAP, BJP, and Congress, will conclude with the results on February 8.
Polling is underway at 13,766 stations across all 70 Assembly constituencies to decide the fate of 699 candidates in a contest that could reshape the political landscape of the capital.
The Election Commission has deployed 220 companies of paramilitary forces, 35,626 Delhi Police personnel, and 19,000 home guards to ensure smooth voting.
Nearly 3,000 polling booths have been identified as sensitive, with special security arrangements, including drone surveillance, at some locations.
