New Delhi: Pakistani hackers have allegedly launched cyber attacks on Indian defence-related websites, potentially compromising sensitive data, including login credentials of defence personnel, NDTV reported quoting sources in the defence establishment as saying.

A group calling itself “Pakistan Cyber Force” has claimed responsibility for breaching data from the Military Engineer Services (MES) and the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), the report said.

The hackers also reportedly attempted to deface the website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (AVNL), a defence PSU, prompting authorities to take the site offline for a full security audit.

Cybersecurity teams are actively monitoring for further intrusions, especially those linked to state-sponsored actors from Pakistan, and have begun reinforcing digital defences to prevent future breaches.

The Pakistan Cyber Force account on X (formerly Twitter), now blocked in India, shared screenshots suggesting that Indian military sites were tampered with. One post replaced an Indian tank image with a Pakistani tank and claimed access to over 10 GB of data from 1,600 users on the MP-IDSA site, NDTV reported. Another message declared: “Hacked. Your security is illusion. MES data owned.”

This cyber aggression comes amid deteriorating India-Pakistan relations, worsened by the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, including tourists and a local, were killed.
