The Delhi High Court has directed political commentator Abhijit Iyer-Mitra to remove a series of social media posts targeting nine women journalists from Newslaundry, including executive editor Manisha Pande.
The court criticised the language used in the posts, describing it as “impermissible in a civilised society,” and warned of potential legal action if the posts were not taken down.
The journalists filed a defamation suit seeking Rs 2 crore in damages and a public apology, alleging that Iyer-Mitra’s posts included sexually abusive language, referring to them as “prostitutes” and their workplace as a “brothel.”
