US ‘negotiating with itself’, says Iran after Trump claims Tehran wants deal ‘so badly’

Someone like us will never come to terms with someone like you, says an Iranian military spokesperson

Iran has dismissed ongoing diplomatic signals from the United States, with a military spokesperson saying Washington is “negotiating with itself” and asserting that Tehran will not come to terms under current conditions, BBC reported.

The remarks come after former US President Donald Trump said Iran “wants a deal so badly,” claiming Tehran had offered what he described as a “very big present worth a tremendous amount of money.”

Unconfirmed reports suggest Washington has put forward a 15-point proposal that includes dismantling Iran’s nuclear facilities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, there has been no official confirmation from either side, BBC reported.

At the same time, reports by CBS News indicate the Pentagon is preparing for a possible troop deployment to Iran, though details on timing and location remain unclear. The White House has not commented on the development.

Amid rising tensions, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said “non-hostile vessels” would be allowed to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, with ships from countries including China, India, and Pakistan reportedly continuing transit.

The diplomatic standoff comes alongside escalating military activity in the region, with Israel and Iran continuing to exchange strikes. In southern Lebanon, six people have been killed, according to state media.

The situation underscores growing instability in West Asia, with both diplomatic and military tracks showing little sign of immediate de-escalation.
