New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday paid tribute to the armed forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, describing the mission as a defining moment in India’s fight against terrorism and a symbol of national resolve.
Marking one year of the military operation launched in response to the 2025 Pahalgam attack, Modi changed his profile picture on X and posted a message praising the armed forces for their “unparalleled courage, precision and resolve.”
“A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during #OperationSindoor. They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour,” Modi wrote.
He said Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and its unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security. Modi added that the operation highlighted the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of the armed forces, while also showcasing growing synergy among the services and the benefits of India’s push towards self-reliance in defence production.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also updated his display picture on X with visuals linked to Operation Sindoor and shared the update with the hashtag “#NewProfilePic.”
The operation emerged as one of India’s most high-profile military responses after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in 2025 that claimed 26 lives.
Amit Shah described Operation Sindoor as a “landmark mission” in India’s battle against terrorism, saying it demonstrated the precision of the armed forces, the intelligence capabilities of security agencies and the government’s political resolve to dismantle terror infrastructure across the border.
“Operation Sindoor stands as an epochal mission of India that will always remind our enemies of the infallible striking power of our armed forces,” Shah wrote on X.
“History will remember it as the day of the precise striking power of our armed forces, meticulous intelligence of our agencies, and resolute political will rising together as one to destroy each and every address of terror across the border that dared to cast an evil shadow on our citizens at Pahalgam,” he added.
Shah further warned that India’s enemies could not escape accountability “no matter where they hide,” and said the operation sent a strong message about the country’s military preparedness and determination.
Rajnath Singh said Operation Sindoor symbolised “national resolve and preparedness” and praised the armed forces for their courage and sacrifices.
“On the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, we salute the valour and sacrifices of our armed forces, whose courage and dedication continue to safeguard the nation,” Singh wrote on X.
He said the operation reflected “unmatched precision, seamless jointness and deep synergy across services,” setting a benchmark for modern military operations.
Singh also linked the mission to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, saying the operation stood as proof of the country’s growing self-reliance in defence capabilities.
“Operation Sindoor stands as a powerful symbol of national resolve and preparedness, showing that our armed forces are always ready to act decisively when it matters most,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also paid tribute to the armed forces, praising their “unwavering resolve and extraordinary courage.”
“As we mark the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, we bow in reverence to the men and women in uniform whose unwavering resolve and extraordinary courage delivered a fitting response to the enemy who targeted innocent civilians at Pahalgam,” Sinha wrote on X.
He said the operation was “a declaration etched in resolve” and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and eliminating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
