Newly appointed Vigilance commissioner seeks list of cases
Srinagar: The State Vigilance Commission (CVC) has asked all the state government departments to speed up departmental inquiries against officials allegedly involved in corruption cases.
Sources told news agency KNS that the move comes after the state government and commission, have noticed that many organizations were sitting over corruption complaints.
“The commission has asked all public sector undertakings, government departments to speed-up investigation in corruption cases. The commission has expressed desire that DVOs should review their respective pendencies and take expeditious action to bring them to a logical conclusion within the prescribed time limit,” sources said.
“There is a long list of inquiries against government employees allegedly named in corruption cases. The commission has sought details of these cases so that they can be completed early, a senior SVC official on condition of anonymity said.
Sources said that that the vigilance commission has also sought the list of corruption cases from vigilance organization. “The step has been taken in view of the reports that certain cases was closed halfway and could not see the light of the day. In the past even the cases which were under active investigation were closed not as per the principals of moral rules.”
Sources said that there are number of pending complaints of corruption with Public Health Engineering/Irrigation & Flood Control Department, Public Works Department and Health Department, including corporations like JK SCIOP, JK Cements, JK SIDCO.
“The Vigilance commission has asked disciplinary authorities in these departments to regularly monitor the progress in such inquiries and ensure that these are completed within the prescribed time limit,” sources maintained.
Meanwhile sources said that the newly appointed Chief Vigilance Commissioner has sought the list of corruption cases including those cases which have been closed in the year 2017.
Former Director General of Police, P L Gupta, after joining as Chief Vigilance commissioner, at the outset, has sought the details from Vigilance organization about all those cases which have been closed in the year 2017.
Sources believe that the action warranted was based on repeated complaints about certain cases which were unethically closed. “All such cases were under investigation against various FIRs PE and initial investigation. This is quantum step by incumbent commission which seems to have taken extra and effective loop in the matters of corruption,” sources maintained.
Sources said that the Governor, N. N Vohra in a recent communication to the incumbent government has advised to provide corruption free governance, which he (Governor) wrote based on continuous corruption complaints his office was getting.
Sources said that it is interesting to see that how the commission will make up their mind to go after officials who have amassed wealth and property beyond their known income. “The commission must asked the authorities to gather information about the property and wealth of officers, officials from last many years so that it is ascertained who has resorted to unfair means to amass wealth and property,” sources maintained.
