Militants killed in Pattan gunfight buried in Sonamarg

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday morning buried all three Hizbul Mujhaideen militants, who were killed in Yeddipora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, in Sonamarg are of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.

Police officials said that the slain were identified as Hanan Bilal Sofi Arampora Baramulla, Shafat Khan Rawalpora Delina, however, the third militant is yet to be identified.

They said after approaching to the families, bodies were taken to Sonamarg and buried in a local graveyard.

The decision not to handover the bodies to their respective families was was taken in view of the Coronavirus pandemic. Police and some locals dug three graves in a graveyard in Sonamarg after receiving the information from police and buried the bodies there.

The trio was killed in a 12-hour long gunfight in Yadipora village of Pattan in north Kashmir. In the gunfight, an army officer and two JK police cops were also injured.
