New Delhi: Tear gas shells were launched at farmers at the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana as farmers resumed their ‘Chalo Dilli’ march on Wednesday, demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops and other concessions.
The farmers restarted their protest after dismissing the GoI’s proposal, which included a five-year MSP plan.
Prior to resuming the protest, leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal addressed the media at the Shambu border, urging the Modi government to remove barricades for a peaceful march to Delhi, expressing their willingness to make sacrifices for the nation’s benefit. Sarwan Singh Pandher appealed Modi to acknowledge their demands, saying it is their right to hold a peaceful march towards Delhi.
An estimated 14,000 people, accompanied by 1,200 tractor-trolleys, 300 cars, and 10 mini-buses, have gathered along the Punjab-Haryana border, according to government estimates.
