Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led ministers and officials in taking an integrity pledge at the Civil Secretariat, underscoring the Union Territory government’s commitment to transparency and integrity in public service.

The event, held at the Civil Secretariat, saw attendance from numerous ministers, administrative secretaries, and departmental officers. Officials based in Jammu joined via video conference, while Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, department heads, and students from hundreds of schools participated from district headquarters, ensuring extensive involvement across the region, according to an official spokesperson.

In addition, departments organised similar pledge ceremonies for their staff, reinforcing the commitment to uphold integrity at every level of public service.

“As we observe Vigilance Awareness Week from October 28 to November 3, I take immense pride in reaffirming our steadfast dedication to a corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir. Combating corruption is more than a priority; it’s a mission driving us to introduce impactful reforms, enhance oversight, and empower citizens,” Abdullah stated.

“Our goal is to establish a governance model where all resources are used for public welfare,” he added.

He highlighted this year’s theme, “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity,” emphasising  that integrity is fundamental to a nation’s success and essential to growth, welfare, and progress. Abdullah noted that the newly elected government has committed to fostering a governance system rooted in integrity, fairness, and honesty.

“Our mission is clear and profound: to serve with honour and ensure that every decision serves the people we represent,” he concluded, urging all participants to engage actively in this week’s initiatives.
