Mirchi Food Festival draws crowd in Srinagar

The event, held between 14 and 16 February, showcased a wide range of local cuisine, live performances, and family-friendly activities, making it one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Srinagar: The Mirchi Food Festival, organised by Mirchi 98.3 FM, concluded on Sunday after a three-day run at Sher-i-Kashmir Park, attracting thousands of visitors from across the city and beyond. The event, held between 14 and 16 February, showcased a wide range of local cuisine, live performances, and family-friendly activities, making it one of the most anticipated events of the year.

The festival brought together leading cafés and restaurants from the region, with over a dozen food stalls offering diverse culinary experiences. Visitors also explored exhibitor stalls featuring Kashmiri arts, organic skincare, luxury bags, and boutique items. Live performances by Noor Mohammad and his team entertained the crowds throughout the weekend, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent chefs, street vendors, Wazwan chefs, food influencers, and key sponsors, highlighting the significance of Kashmir’s food industry. Organisers described the festival as a tribute to the region’s rich gastronomic heritage.

A major highlight was the introduction of Mirchi 98.3 FM’s new RJ, Mehmood. “It’s always been my dream to entertain audiences through my music, and over the years, I have received unconditional love for every performance. However, I always felt I wanted to do more—engage with the audience, listen to their stories. It was destined to happen in the shape of an RJ at 98.3 Mirchi,” he said.

“I am thankful to all my mentors at Mirchi for taking my journey from an intern to an RJ. I look forward to entertaining Kashmiris every day with all my heart and soul,”

The strategic location of the festival in central Srinagar contributed to its high turnout, with families, tourists, and food enthusiasts flocking to the event. Attractions included arcade games and a bouncy castle for children, while food stalls featured names such as Le Délice French Bakery, Black Bear Brew, Olives Garden and Grill, The French Talk, and The Garage Café.

Arvind Dhiman, station head of Mirchi Jammu and Kashmir, expressed gratitude to sponsors and attendees. “The event became a possibility due to the efforts of every member involved—be it the sponsors, vendors, and especially our team Mirchi. But most of all, I thank the people of Kashmir who made it to the event. After all, it’s all about our audience. Whatever we do, we do it to entertain them.”
