An Egyptian wildcat, commonly referred to as the “lynx,” entered an ‘Israeli’ military base near Mount Harif along the border, attacking and injuring multiple soldiers in an unusual incident that quickly gained traction on social media.

The attack turned the lynx into a trending topic, with many online users reacting humorously.

Some commented that the soldiers “got what they deserved,” while others sarcastically suggested that the animal might now face condemnation.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, several reports were filed about soldiers being bitten by a wild predator along the Egypt-‘Israeli’ Occupation border.

Eventually, ‘Israeli’ wildlife inspectors captured the lynx and transferred it to a specialised facility for examination, though further details remain undisclosed.

While ‘Israeli’ media speculated that the animal had crossed over from Egypt, no concrete evidence was provided. The desert border is home to various predators and other wildlife, making such encounters possible.

The lynx measures between 60 to 90 cm in length, weighs 8 to 20 kg, and stands about half a meter tall at the shoulders.

Equipped with long fangs, sharp claws, and powerful jumping abilities, it is a skilled predator that primarily hunts rodents, wild rabbits, and birds, but can also take down larger animals like deer, monkeys, and goats. It can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h and has a lifespan of 12 to 15 years in the wild, potentially living up to 20 years in captivity.

As discussions around the incident continue to circulate online, the event has not only entertained many but also drawn attention to this elusive wild feline.
