Rajouri: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday said that 9,500 bunkers have already been constructed along the India-Pakistan border in the Union Territory and assured that more will be built to safeguard civilians living near the Line of Control (LoC).

Dulloo was speaking during his visit to the shelling-affected areas of Rajouri district, particularly Kalsian panchayat in Nowshera tehsil, where several homes were recently damaged due to cross-border firing. He met local residents, assessed the damage firsthand, and emphasised the administration’s commitment to ensuring their safety.

“There is a significant demand for more bunkers along the border. I want to assure everyone that more bunkers will be constructed, and there will be no shortage,” Dulloo told reporters, acknowledging that Pakistani shelling has caused injuries, loss of livestock, and widespread damage to property.

He added that compensation for losses will be disbursed after a proper assessment by the administration.

Expressing solidarity with the affected population, the chief secretary said he was there to personally understand the ground situation and offer support. He assured residents that the government stands by them in this difficult time and is committed to their welfare and protection.

Dulloo also visited the Government Medical College (GMC) in Rajouri, where he met with people injured in the shelling. He appreciated the swift response and coordinated efforts of the district administration in handling the crisis.
