New Delhi: A Delhi-Leh IndiGo flight made a precautionary return to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Thursday morning shortly after departure due to a technical issue.

The flight, operated by an Airbus A320-251N under the number 6E2006, departed from Delhi at 6:30 am and was expected to reach Leh’s Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport by 7:50 am. However, shortly after take-off, the aircraft encountered a technical snag and turned back to Delhi as a safety measure. After undergoing necessary checks, the aircraft resumed its journey and departed again at 10:36 am. IndiGo has not yet issued an official comment on the incident.

The development comes amid a rise in emergency landings across the country following the deadly Air India crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, which claimed 241 lives. The accident has led to increased scrutiny and precautionary measures by aviation authorities.

Earlier this week, multiple flights across India reported mid-air troubles: On Monday, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi experienced a technical malfunction and was forced to return for an emergency landing. Though initially scheduled for a 4:25 pm take-off, the flight eventually departed at 4:39 pm, turned back to Delhi, and after inspections, reached Ranchi at 9:27 pm.

On the same day, an Air India Delhi-Hong Kong flight had to return roughly 90 minutes after take-off due to technical issues. The aircraft was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner — the same model involved in the Ahmedabad crash.

On Sunday, an Air India flight bound for Vadodara returned shortly after departure due to suspected landing gear malfunction. The crew noticed the gear wasn’t retracting properly after take-off from IGI Airport.
